The Chinese Advertising Posters originated at the turn of the century in Shanghai where foreign merchants set up their economic bases after the Opium Wars. To promote their Western goods they printed calendar posters to give to their customers. Although useful and decorative, these became outdated after only one year, thus the calendar was dropped in favour of an advertising poster with a longer life. Cigarette posters, such as this example for Ruby Queen Magnums for W D & H O Willis, Bristol & London, dominated this genre.Our notelets are printed in full colour and laminated on 120gsm artcard. Size varies slightly depending on image, but on average the cards measure 185mm x 130mm.
