Antiques of the Orient was founded in 1981 by the late Mr Michael J. Sweet and Ms Julie Yeo. We retail oriental works of art, particularly chinese porcelain and furniture, and maps and prints.
We started out in a small shop in the basement of Tanglin Shopping Centre where we remained until 1987. We have long relocated to our present premises in a larger unit on the second floor. As time passed, our focus shifted from porcelain and furniture to antiquarian maps and prints.
Today, Antiques of the Orient enjoys an international reputation as a specialist purveyors of antiquarian maps and prints with a focus on Southeast Asia and in particular, Singapore. Specializing in important prints from the 16th & 17th century voyages of the Dutch Explorer, Travellers compiled by de Bry, Valentyn and Commelin and 18th Century Engravings of William Hogarth.
